fabRunning VERDICT · Highly Recommended

A durable daily trainer with excellent budget value

fabRunning review rating

After 80 km, the XTEP 2000km 5.0 PRO earns my HIGHLY RECOMMENDED verdict for its roomy forefoot, stable feel and encouraging early durability. A strong option for everyday road mileage at a budget-friendly price.

It's durability is its main selling point, and runners looking for a stable ride will definitely like this one.

What works well

  • Roomy forefoot: generous space with a broad, planted platform.
  • Upgraded comfort: softer cushioning and an improved upper compared with the standard 2000km 5.0.
  • Promising durability: very little outsole wear and fresh-feeling foam after 80 km.
  • Strong value: a dependable daily trainer that earns my HIGHLY RECOMMENDED verdict.

Keep in mind

  • Still on the firm side: runners who prefer a very soft, bouncy ride may want another option.
  • Fit is individual: my comparison with 2E shoes is a personal impression, not an official width designation.
  • 80 km tested: the model name is not a distance I have personally verified.
  • Prices move: review and flash-sale prices are historical, not a current offer.

Ride, fit and daily use

The PRO works best for me as an everyday trainer, especially for comfortable, easy road runs. It has a controlled ride rather than an especially bouncy feel. Runners who prefer very soft cushioning may find it firm, particularly when starting out.

The wide base and generous forefoot stand out. The fit feels close to some of my 2E shoes, although that is my personal fit comparison rather than an official width designation. Runners who need more forefoot space may appreciate the roomier shape.

In my review, the PEBA-based midsole feels softer and more cushioned than the regular version. The PRO also has a wider base, more midsole stack and an improved upper. It still leans firm underfoot, but the overall package feels more comfortable and refined.

The stack figures discussed in the video are approximately 32 mm at the heel and 27 mm at the forefoot, giving a 5 mm drop. The thick insole adds to the cushioned sensation; my impression that it feels taller is a ride observation, not an additional measured stack figure.

Is the XTEP 2000km 5.0 PRO right for you?

  • Standard XTEP 2000km 5.0: the regular model remains a lower-cost option for runners who like a firmer ride. If the budget allows, I prefer the PRO’s improved cushioning and upper.
  • Qiaodan WIND 4TR: my pick for softer comfort and slow, easy runs. The XTEP offers a middle ground between comfort and responsiveness. Read my WIND 4TR review.
  • Li-Ning Red Hare 9 PRO: the livelier option for faster running in my comparison; the XTEP stands out for its roomy forefoot and steady daily-training feel.
  • New Balance Rebel v5: a more premium comparison with a comfortable, responsive ride. The XTEP’s appeal is its lower price and durability-focused design.

Durability after 80 km

At the time of my review, the outsole showed very little wear and the foam still felt fresh. That is a promising start for a shoe focused on everyday mileage. My testing covers 80 km; the model name should not be read as a distance I have personally verified.

Runners looking for a durable, stable-feeling daily road trainer with a roomy forefoot. It is a strong budget option for everyday mileage if you enjoy a firmer, controlled ride.
The PRO has a softer, more cushioned midsole, wider base and improved upper. If the budget allows, I prefer its more comfortable and refined package. The standard version remains a lower-cost choice for runners who like a firmer ride.
I bought my pair for ₱2,700 during a flash sale and mentioned sale prices around ₱3,500 in the video. These are historical prices. Check the linked Shopee store for the current price, sizes and promotions.
